Pertussis almost took baby Daniel’s life

Daniel was diagnosed with pertussis, or whooping cough, at Children's Minnesota. He spent 50 days on ECMO and exactly 173 days at the hospital. Today, he is healthy and home.

Pertussis: What is it? How can I prevent my child from getting it?

Pertussis is an infection of the respiratory system caused by bacteria. It mainly affects babies younger than 6 months old who aren’t yet protected by immunizations, and kids 11-18 years old whose immunity has started to fade.
