Want to show LGBTQ kids that you’re a supportive ally? Want to share with transgender and gender diverse youth that they are important and valuable and safe? What perfect timing: National Coming Out Day and Stop Bullying Day are both being celebrated this week! Coming Out Day is on Tuesday, Oct. 11 and Stop Bullying Day is the next day, Wednesday, Oct. 12.
Many kids and teens struggle with their identities as it is. Now imagine identifying as LGBTQ+ and having a disability. People already treat kids with disabilities differently – in the way they act and talk to them. Then add the fact that they also identify as LGBTQ, it’s easy to see how difficult it can be.
Patients and families at children’s hospitals are under attack and that is not OK.
The honor from the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on LGBT Health and Wellness recognizes the outstanding work Dr. Goepferd has done in advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth and families in Minnesota and the region.
LGBTQ+ Pride Month in June is a time to celebrate the impact of our LGBTQ+ community and the diversity of our sexual and gender identities.
