Children’s Minnesota honors Minnesota Senators Alice Mann and Kelly Morrison with Children’s Health Hero award

Senators Morrison & Mann with Dr. Marc GorelickChildren’s Minnesota is pleased to announce Minnesota Senators Alice Mann and Kelly Morrison are the 2024 recipients of the Children’s Health Hero Award. Both recipients are physicians who bring their health care expertise to their role at the state Capitol. The annual award recognizes elected officials for their commitment in championing issues vital to kids’ health at the Minnesota Capitol.

The recognition is a result of their work in the 2024 legislative session, including:

  • Sen. Morrison, a legislator and OB-GYN representing much of the west metro, played a critical role in championing policies such as prior authorization reform and safe storage of firearms.
  • Sen. Alice Mann, a legislator and emergency room physician representing Edina and Bloomington, authored vital legislation that included investments in mental health services for kids and Medicaid coverage for health-related social needs like food access, housing support and hospital-based violence prevention programs like Next Step.

“Children’s Minnesota is grateful to the tireless efforts of Sen. Morrison and Sen. Mann to champion the health needs of kids and families,” said Dr. Marc Gorelick, president and CEO of Children’s Minnesota. “The two senators bring their clinical expertise as physicians to their roles in the state Capitol and have demonstrated a passionate commitment for the health and wellbeing of all children in our community.”
