Maria Christu recipient of Women’s Health Leadership TRUST award

Congratulations to Maria Christu, JD, chief legal officer and vice president of advocacy and health policy, for being selected as a recipient of the 2019 Women’s Health Leadership TRUST Collaboration and Partnerships award! This award “honors a woman who is building partnerships within an organization or forging collaborative external relationships that address a common goal where both parties benefit.” Maria is recognized for her efforts in developing the Children’s Healthcare Legal Partnership (HLP), a program established to bring legal assistance to help resolve concerns not directly related to clinical care, such as nutrition, housing, transportation and more. While there are more than 300 similar programs across the United States, Children’s has the only pediatric-specific program in the Minnesota and serves a significant patient population in need. As of September 2018, the HLP handled more than 390 cases with the expectation that numbers will continue to rise. You can read more about the HLP in a 2018 Star Tribune story.

You can see the entire list of Women’s Health Leadership TRUST 2019 award winners here and Maria will be recognized at a sold-out event in April and in an upcoming issue of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. Congratulations Maria!
