Children’s Level 4 Pediatric Epilepsy Center uses combination of new technologies to help patients with epilepsy

Dr. Nitin Agarwal, a pediatric epileptologist, and Dr. Joseph Petronio, a pediatric neurosurgeon, used stereoelectroencephalography (sEEG) and Rosa robot technologies to help 10-year-old Nicole Decker, whose epilepsy was not controlled with medication. The combination of these technologies allowed the team to pinpoint where the seizures were coming from so Dr. Petronio could do surgery to resect that portion of Nicole’s brain to treat her seizures. Nicole has been seizure free since having the procedure in May 2018 at Children’s Minnesota. Watch the full KSTP-TV story: Combination of new technologies can help kids with epilepsy.
