The Star Tribune spoke with Dr. Nancy Mendelsohn, chief of specialty pediatrics, about Children’s Minnesota’s participation in the Sanford Children’s Genomic Medicine Consortium. The consortium’s goal is to “work together on innovative clinical program development, advocacy for children, cutting-edge research and educational programs for the future of genomic medicine.” The first two projects of the consortium include rapid whole genomic sequencing in critically ill newborn infants and a study to better understand the genetic makeup of pediatric cancers.
