Two new PowerPlans: GT/GJ Post Op and Maintenance (used for Pediatrics, CVICU, and PICU) and Neonatal GT/GJ Post Op and Maintenance have been created to streamline the process of post-operative care, feeding, and maintenance for patients with newly placed Gastrostomy or Jejunostomy tubes.

Gender Inclusive Care

Everyone should be called by the right name and pronouns. To provide a safe and inclusive care experience for all our patients, including our gender diverse patients, Children’s Minnesota is improving the way we capture and display the patient’s chosen name and pronouns in our Cerner EHR and printed patient care documents. These improvements eliminate the emotional harm caused when we use a patient’s former name, or birth name, and incorrect pronouns.

Seamless Exchange: Viewing Outside Records

Cerner is implementing new tools to review and add outside records such as allergies, documents, immunizations, medications, problems, and procedures as part of the Seamless Exchange initiative.

Cerner Standard Banner Bar

The Cerner Standard Banner Bar will display for hospital nursing positions (RN, UOC and CSA). This brings standardization across the organization to ensure all positions are viewing the same information. The majority of changes are aesthetic. Pertinent information is still present but may be in a slightly different location with some new added features.

Elopement Precaution Protocol Order

The Elopement Precaution order is being replaced with the Elopement Precautions Protocol Order. The new protocol order provides guidance on when elopement precautions should be implemented. It also includes an option to place a Social Work Consult Order.

Access to Allergy Information

The Allergy component in the Workflow/Clinical Summary pages has received a background update. In the event you receive an error message that Allergies data is not retrievable, allergy information can be found by clicking the Allergies link on the patient Banner Bar or by accessing Allergies from the Table of Contents.

Ambulatory Referral Management (ARM) Update

It was recently decided not to implement the Referral Management technology and the go-live scheduled for April 30th was cancelled. 
Referral Management (ARM) was meant to be the first phase of a three phased technology implementation intended to make it easy for providers to refer to Children’s Minnesota and improve the speed of processing those referrals. Phases two and three were stopped due to the Epic transition. Without these subsequent phases, it was determined that ARM will not meet our stated goals.
