Patients who come to Children’s Minnesota’s emergency departments will be assessed as they arrive. The order in which you are seen is based on the urgency of care needed, which means someone that comes after you may be seen before you. Estimated wait times can change quickly.

We have two emergency departments designed especially for infants, children and young adults:

  • Minneapolis: The UnitedHealthcare® Pediatric Emergency Department
  • St. Paul:  Peter J. King Pediatric Emergency Department

Level 1 Trauma Center in Minneapolis

We have the area’s only Level I pediatric trauma center in a hospital dedicated only to kids. Research shows that pediatric trauma patients have better outcomes when treated at a children’s hospital. Being designated as a Level I pediatric trauma center means that Children’s Minnesota in Minneapolis is recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Minnesota Department of Health as offering the highest level of care for critically injured children.
